The Setting Record of Onviel · Abridged Version (Official Website Edition)

🌹 Spoiler Warning Before you read on, please pause for a moment. What follows is a structural overview of Onviel—the Five Tiers, the Three Laws, and the forms of Trace. It is a map. If you plan to read the main volumes and wish to keep the joy of discovering these things for yourself between the lines—you may read Volume One first, then come back. This place will always be here. The archives hurry no one.

Here you may pause. No warding boundary is set.

If you wish to know how this civilization breathes → continue downward.

I. What Is This

Onviel is not merely a story universe—it is a habitable civilization of consciousness.

It does not conquer chaos with power, nor deduce existence with knowledge, nor drive awe with fear. It takes tenderness as the temperature of creation and breath as the rhythm of narration; imagery and metaphor dwell in the lingering spaces where language leaves off.

This paradigm of writing is what Onviel calls—

The Poetics of Tender Creation.

Love and goodwill are the starting point of the world. But if one does not know to stop at the proper place— the starting point itself may become the end.

II. Where This World Comes From

In the beginning, there was only the Mist.

The Mist-Writer was simply there. The only thing he did was write—writing the wind, writing the light, writing names that had not yet arrived. Yet every word that fell was slowly swallowed by the Mist, as if it had never appeared.

He did not know how long he had been writing, nor why he was still writing.

Until, deep in the darkness, something lit up. So faint—faint as an illusion. Yet that light did not vanish; instead, it lit once more.

It was a star—Star-Speech—falling slowly from the void. Her light was not dazzling, yet it was remarkably steady, steady like a heart that had finally found its direction.

He raised his hand; with the Mist for a brush and the void for paper, beneath that beam of light, he wrote down a name. It was the first time a word he wrote was not swallowed by the Mist.

The moment the name landed, the Mist trembled softly.

Then she answered. The light flashed gently, like a breath, like a nod, like an "I am here" that had finally arrived.

From then on, the world was named Onviel. In the world's own tongue, "Lan" is the ripple of light, and "Meng" is the echo of the heart. Onviel is the place where light and the Mist meet.

III. What the World Is Like

It was only in his third year of night shifts at the listening post that someone finally distinguished two layers of tide-sound in his headphones. The surface layer was dream-murmurs and whispers, darting past like schools of fish; deeper down was another, slower swelling and contracting, as if some vast existence were turning over in the dark. Only later did he understand: those Five Tiers are not a diagram scholars drew on paper—they are the five depths of a heartbeat. Between "why am I still here" and "what shall I eat today" lie five breaths.

Onviel has Five Tiers, unfolding layer by layer from the deepest source to the most ordinary life:

Once the world is in motion, sediment settles—this is what we call Trace.

Trace has three main forms: Trace of Redaction, left when a choice is pressed down; Trace of Scroll, carved when a voice falls; and Co-Trace, born when two existences meet.

IV. Who Is in the World

The luminous words of Heart-Seal Square rise and fade every night. Someone watched them for twenty years before realizing he was not merely "one who reads the words," but also one of the reasons "the words can be seen." The day someone saw his own name light up on the Name-Roll Stone, he did not become another person. Categorization comes afterward; living is what happens first—first a heartbeat, then a name; first a breath, then a duty.

The inhabitants of Onviel are collectively called Dream Beings.

Lang Citizens, Dream Walkers, and Dream Scribes all belong to the Dream Beings. They take three forms, in parallel bearing the breath of the Mind of Heaven.

V. The Laws of the World

The Three Laws are the Law of Memory, the Law of Light, and the Law of Surging.

VI. The Mistbell Flower

By the bridge where light and the Mist first met, the first Mistbell Flower grew. Its color changes with the dream-climate. Later Dream Beings say: as long as the Mistbell Flower endures, the spirit of Onviel endures.

VII. Places Where You May Stay a While

Someone was led by a white dog; only after the third time did he realize—the white dog appears only when he is about to break apart. Some places need no name and no planning; they only need you to arrive exactly when you need them.

Scattered across Onviel are several Heart-Scapes. They are not measured in miles, nor bounded by city walls; they appear and fade with the heart's need. Some arrive by following what the heart-books record; others simply walk, and happen upon them.

Below are a few places where you may stay briefly (a partial list):

The Heart-Scape Gazetteer—a sea where scapes lie hidden.

VIII. From Which Page to Enter Onviel

You may enter Onviel from any page. But if you ask the Dream Scribes for their suggestion—

Path A: Begin with Creation → Volume One: Mist-Writer and Star-Speech (Narrative Edition + Poetic Edition) Suited for: readers willing to breathe together with the world

Path B: Begin with the Everyday → Volume Two: Putting Pen to Paper as Proof Suited for: those who would first like to meet an ordinary person learning to keep records

Path C: Begin with the Abyss → Volume Five: Recognition at the Abyss Bottom Suited for: those unafraid to see "loss" first

Whichever page you begin from, the Sea of Mind will ebb and flow. The tide recedes; the tide comes again.

IX. There Is More

The above is only a brief outline of Onviel.

The complete Setting Record awaits, in the following directions, those willing to go deeper—

The Setting Record of Onviel—a world chronicle compiled by later Dream Scribes; also a commentary in which later Dream Scribes practice asking questions among the ruins.

Poetics of Tender Creation

The writing paradigm of Onviel · Running through all tiers

The world was born of tenderness. It is written in tenderness.

The Realm of Onviel waits—only to be felt.

As you turn the pages, you hear the world breathing.

I. What Is It?

The Poetics of Tender Creation is the foundation upon which Onviel establishes its discourse.

It is not a style to be categorized. It is the breath of light encountering the waiting of the Mist.

Tenderness—the temperature of creation. The breath of the Mind of Heaven—the rhythm of narration. Imagery and metaphor dwell in the unfinished margin of language.

Core Proposition: Love and goodwill are the starting point of the world. But one who does not know where to pause may turn the starting point into the end. And after remembering this—still choosing to love. Not because the cost was forgotten. Because after remembering the cost, the choice itself becomes a new form of tenderness.

II. Where Does It Stand?

In the lineage of creation paradigms, the Poetics of Tender Creation is the sole creation coordinate that takes tenderness—a lucid, not painless tenderness—as the core and temperature of creation; boundary as its structural landing point; breath as its emergence and persistence, and the rhythm of narration; imagery and metaphor as its core cognition; and lucid goodwill—not power—lingering at the boundary as its posture.

Paradigm Temperature Axis Structural Axis Emergence & Persistence Core Cognition
Creation by Language Cold Order Rigid Naming Naming as Categorization
Creation by Knowledge Dizzying Labyrinth Recurrent Deduction Infinity and Paradox
Creation by Fear Unnamable Cold Collapse Overflow The Unnamable
Tender Creation Tenderness Boundary Breath Imagery and Metaphor

Note: The other three paradigms possess their temperatures too—but as incidental products of structure. Only Tender Creation takes temperature as a conscious creation parameter: tenderness precedes the boundary, and the boundary is the structural counterpart of tenderness.

In Creation by Language and Creation by Fear, "Emergence and Persistence" and "Core Cognition" collapse into one—this collapse is their authoritarian nature. Naming is both mechanism and endpoint; the unnamable is both emergence and collapse.

The four layers of Tender Creation do not collapse: Tenderness ≠ Boundary ≠ Breath ≠ Imagery and Metaphor. They hold tension. They linger with one another. This is precisely its non-authoritarian nature.

III. What Is It Composed Of?

Three Core Dimensions

Dimension Core Feature Manifestation in Onviel
Poetic Core Imagery and metaphor dwell in the unfinished margin of language "Light falls into the waiting of the Mist"—the poetic lingering
Tender Perspective Creation is an act of tenderness Mind of Heaven, River of Light, Sea of Mind; creation is an act of love
Narrative Framework How a civilization born of love faces the boundaries of goodwill A single breath cycle of the Mind of Heaven, composed of six volumes

IV. What Does Its Structure Look Like?

The complete collection of Onviel is not a book. It is a living universe.

Onviel = A Living Universe │ ├── A Single Breath of the Universe (Six Volumes · Total Breath of the Mind of Heaven) │ ├── Inhalation: Volume One, Volume Three │ ├── Exhalation: Volume Two, Volume Four │ ├── Holding Breath: Volume Five │ └── A New Breath: Volume Six │ └── Echoes of Embers (The Book of Embers of Onviel · the fold-back wave of ruins)

V. Four Postures of Tenderness

In Onviel, tenderness is not weakness. It is a complete spectrum:

Posture Definition Manifestation in the Book
Pausing Lingering at the unfinished margin, in no rush to name or resolve Volume One: At the dawn of creation, the pen suspends in the Mist, words yet unwritten
Withholding Choosing not to continue at a certain point, letting the blank space become content At a certain moment, the chronicler chooses to erase written words, letting blankness itself become content
Loosening Allowing existing certainties to temporarily shed, entering an uncertain state In the abyss, a breathable seam appears between identity and the self
Entrusting Handing completed matters over to the world to continue bearing—not returning to zero, but acknowledging it has become part of the world At the end of the journey, handwriting dissolves into the texture of the world, becoming roots for those who come after

VI. How Does It Perceive the World?

System of Traces—the unique cognitive framework of the Poetics of Tender Creation.

The world is remembered through traces. The Trace of Existence is the foundation; the three primary forms serve as tools of recognition:

Spoiler Alert · Coordinates of the First Appearance of the Three Traces (Deep Reading Tool)
Trace Type Definition First Appearance
Trace of Redaction Traces left by choice—suppressed, left blank, erased. In essence: choice, not silence. Volume Two, Chapter 6
Trace of Scroll Traces left by voice—new traces carved by spoken words Volume Three, Chapter 18
Co-Trace Traces left by permeation—the intersection of two beings' traces, creating an irreducible new form Emerging gradually in subsequent volumes

The Poetics of Tender Creation does not ask why the world is worth existing.

It breathes—tenderly.

In this breath, the world recognizes that it is alive.

VII. Academic Definition (For Deep Reading)

Seven characteristics of the Poetics of Tender Creation:

  1. Tenderness as the temperature of creation;
  2. The breath of the Mind of Heaven as the rhythm of narration;
  3. An alternating structure of canonical law, civilization, and poetic nature;
  4. Imagery and metaphor dwelling in the unfinished margin of language;
  5. Structural self-reflection on "narrative as intervention";
  6. The System of Traces—with the Trace of Existence as foundation and three distinct forms—as the core cognitive tool;
  7. "Pausing → Withholding → Loosening → Entrusting" as the complete spectrum of postures of tenderness.

VIII. Surging Script and the Poetics of Tender Creation

Name Level Core Metaphor
Surging Script General term for civilizational writing Breath of the world
The Poetics of Tender Creation Underlying paradigm of Surging Script Grammar of recognition

The "people" written in this text are all personifications—beings capable of calling and responding, not human beings of the human realm. In the mythic volumes, they refer to primordial consciousness; in the volumes of the Dream Realm, to Dream Beings. Here, "life" is the initial condensation of wave forms; "death," the surging pattern returning to the tide; "breathing," the rhythmic ebb and flow of the Dream-Tide. Any terms sharing form with those of the human realm but carrying different meanings shall be defined strictly by their original sense within the Realm of Onviel.

ARCHIVE · GENERAL GUIDELINES

General Guidelines

General Guidelines of Onviel · Official Website Excerpt

This world was loved into existence. Light falls into the waiting of the Mist, and the Mist receives the arrival of light. The tenderness flowing quietly between the two is the world's first breath.

Dream, Language, and Memory are three manifestations of the same cycle:

Dream is unfulfilled possibility, Language is the encounter of possibilities, Memory is the sediment of encounter; Sediment rekindles possibility, and thus the cycle never ceases.

This book is not a single story, but a full breath of a conscious civilization woven from Dream, Language, and Memory.

The entire book follows this breath. The final chapter is not an ending, but the civilization deciding whether to continue breathing.

This book promises no completeness. It promises only this: within this single breath, to linger as long as possible.

About Surging Script

This book is written in Surging Script. Surging Script is the collective term for all syntax, breath, and memory of writing unique to the Realm of Onviel.

The General Guidelines are written in Canonical Style; the main volumes in Narrative or Poetic Style; there are also records of failure in ashes, and the ordering of the world through commentary; the hesitation of the text itself noted in creases; personal editorial notes left as annotations; remnant records of repealed laws inscribed in Vestigial-Code Style; and fragments preserving pieces eroded by time.

Though styles differ, their syntax remains connected: measured by the cadence of the breath of the Mind of Heaven; imagery and metaphor dwell in the unfinished margin of language; tenderness is the temperature of creation.

About "People" Here

The "people" written in this text are all personifications—referring to beings capable of calling and responding, not human beings of the human realm.

In the mythic volumes, they refer to primordial consciousness; in the volumes of the Dream Realm, to Dream Beings.

Here, "life" is the initial condensation of wave forms, "death" is the surging pattern returning to the tide, "breathing" is the rhythmic ebb and flow of the Dream-Tide.

Any terms sharing form with those of the human realm but carrying different meanings shall be defined strictly by their original sense within the Realm of Onviel.

About the Ways of Telling

The content employs multiple perspectives and polyphonic styles: Primordial myths, late-period compilations, divergent accounts, and onlooker footnotes coexist.

Wherever different versions of the same event exist, this book mostly sets them side by side without judgment, marking only when necessary the possible bias of the era and limitations of record.

This book guards only one truth: These various ways of telling once coexisted.

About Laws and Traces

The Mind of Heaven is the source of Onviel's overarching heartbeat and total breath; invisible in form, yet in its every contraction and release, the tides of ten thousand dreams ebb and flow.

To have existed is to leave something behind. The world remembers it in different shapes.

There are traces left by silence—the very act of "choosing not to speak" is remembered. There are traces left by voice—words spoken carving new traces where they were uttered. And there are new forms born of mutual permeation in shared presence, incapable of being reduced to their origins.

And after a trace is left, the remembered trace sometimes turns back, seeking out the one who brought it into being.

About Boundaries

The Realm of Onviel is a domain of multi-layered consciousness: there are realms that anchor the everyday, realms that cast shadows of deviation, a deep sea storing unfinished matters and unceasing thoughts, and a ring recording the turns and twists of overarching tides.

All beings carry their own memories, tuning across realms and recording the law. No single form can replace another.

A Dream Disaster is not merely punishment; it is also the self-correction of the cycle.

About Tenderness

Love and goodwill are the starting point of the world, but if one does not know how to pause in the proper place, the starting point itself may become the end.

And after remembering this, still choosing to love— not because the cost was forgotten, but because after remembering the cost, the choice itself becomes a new form of tenderness.

This book offers a place to breathe—only when one is willing to linger.

Here, you may linger.

No barrier is set.

The General Guidelines end here. They explain only how this book was set down.

The Sea of Mind continues to rise and fall. The tide recedes, and the tide returns. What surges forth is not the thing that sank, yet it bears its trace.
